Having led an impressive career for 15 years, Ms. Alice Ann Friends is a highly respected professional with an extensive background in sign language and interpreting services. She is continuously honing in on the skills she gained as an administrative assistant for Telecommunication for the Deaf, Inc. and Sign Language Associates and as a claims representative for the Social Security Administration. In her current capacity, Ms. Friends is dedicated to providing quality interpreting services for the hearing-impaired as the Chief Executive Officer/Founder at Friends Interpreting Services LLC since its establishment in 2011. Friends Interpreting Services LLC strives to break communication barriers between the hearing and the deaf.
In light of her academic achievements, Ms. Friends completed her undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Gallaudet University in 1995. Then she obtained her Master’s Degree in Deaf Education from McDaniel College in 1998. Remaining abreast of the latest advancements in her field, Ms. Friends is an active member of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, the West Virginia Association of the Deaf, and the National Association for the Deaf.
As a testament to her professional excellence, Ms. Friends earned the Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year award from the Small Business Administration.
An active member of her community, Ms. Friends, is a volunteer instructor and coordinator for the Frederick Church of Brethren. Since 2016, she has served as a volunteer advocate for the Deaf-Blinded Senior Citizens.
