Eagle, ID— Barbara J. Mathison is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who is being recognized as a Life Achiever for her work as a nutritional expert.
Mrs. Mathison is a retired Food-for-Life Certified Instructor, a health coach for the Certified Wellness Institute, a Vegan-Certified Food-for-Life Instructor with Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (www.pcrm. org). She also worked as a Certified Health Coach from Wellness Institute, taught Whole Food Plant-Based to all age groups, mainly senior citizens, and studied at Whitewater State College. She was a keynote speaker for professional women’s programs throughout the country. Mrs. Mathison is a graduate of “Nutrition Studies”: T. Colin Campbell PHD (author of the China Study) and emeritus Cornell University.
Mrs. Mathison has been a franchise owner of Snelling & Snelling, a bank officer at Old National Bank in Seattle WA, was a secretary, and a waitress.
Mrs. Mathison is affiliated with the American Sewing Guild Las Vegas Chapter (ASG); is a supporter and member of advisory boards at Community College Twin Falls Idaho; works with the Salvation Army, Displaced Homemakers, VSU (Vegetation Society of Utah) where she was president for 8 years, and is also on the Advisory Board.
She has been awarded the honors of Secretary of the Year, Business Woman of the Year, Mother of the Year, and won Idaho Business Woman of the year in 1982. She is also included in the prestigious Marquis Who’s Who Biographical Registry and Continental Who’s Who Registry. She lends her nutritional expertise as a vegan cook and instructor, and was featured in the article “Don’t Eat That!” written by Laurie Nelson-Barker and published in the View on Southern Utah Magazine in 2014.
Mrs. Mathison is particularly proud that she was a Liza Minnelli official look-a-like with a Hollywood Contract since 1986. She has performed cabaret shows that she developed herself and performed 21 shows to sold-out audiences from around the world. She enjoys reading, sewing, knitting, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, playing some games on the computer, socializing with friends, and being a mother to her two wonderful cats, Misty and Jag, who she considers to be her emotional support team. She is not too fond of sports, but loves teaching her Tai Chi Dragon Qigong lessons, which she has done for 20 years and continues to do twice a week. Her favorite place is the Maurya Sheraton Hotel in New Delhi India, which she visited in 1990.
Mrs. Mathison attributes her success to her friends and employees, and to her internal drive to do the best she can with whatever appears on her plate. According to Mrs. Mathison, she has 4 wonderful, successful sons and 4 incredible daughters-in-laws, with 9 grandchildren and 13 great grand-children. She has been a widow for 2 years and still misses her wonderful husband, Duane, of 30 years. She is looking forward to social relationships and getting out of the house a little more. She notes that she is usually happy and an encouraging person to be around who likes to laugh and help others.
