David W. Furnas – Top Doctor and Retired Legacy Member

Corona Del Mar, CA – David W. Furnas, M.D., FACS, FRCSC, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Legacy Member and Top Doctor in the field of Medicine in recognition of his role as a Retired Plastic Surgeon at the University of California.

Founded by Dr. Furnas in 1969, the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of California, Irvine, renders high-tech, premium education, research, and surgery care.  They provide services to patients and train upcoming plastic surgeons. Combining with the Center for Tissue Engineering, the school of medicine has learned to use biological substitutes to restore damaged tissues.

Now retired, Dr. Furnas served as the Clinical Professor and Chief of Plastic Surgery at the School of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine. He has worked in his current roles since 1980. Specializing in all areas of plastic surgery, he has excelled as a consultant, educator, and physician. Known internationally, he is an expert in reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery.

An academic scholar, Dr. Furnas attended the University of California, Davis and Berkeley, for Pre-Med Studies, earning a Bachelor of Science. He furthered his education, receiving a Doctorate of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, in 1955. At this same institution, he graduated with a Master of Science in Pharmacology and Toxicology. At hospitals affiliated with the University of California, San Francisco, he trained as an assistant resident for a general surgical residency. Following this, he had a one-year psychiatric training at Langley Porter Institute and a fellowship in plastic surgery at Cornell Medical Center in New York City.

In recognition of affiliations, Dr. Furnas has been the President of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons for one year. He is a charitable to several organizations, including the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the African Medical and Research Foundation.

Dr. Furnas dedicates this recognition in loving memory of his grandfathers, Rev. David Henry Hare and William Furnas, M.D.
