Chief John W. Gaissert is recognized by Continental Who’s Who among Law Enforcement Professionals.
John has over thirty-five years of military, law enforcement, and corporate experience. Over the span of John’s career he has served with merit in uniform patrol, special operations, and criminal investigation units. John is currently the Chief of Police in Commerce, Georgia. John takes immense pride in his involvement with the law enforcement profession, as well as his involvement in community projects such as his work with Rape Crisis, Incorporated, Peace Place Shelter for Women as well as Ministry Work.
John’s dedication to the law enforcement field has led to his attainment of Level V certification in homeland security from the American College of Forensic Examiners. In addition, he serves as the Department of Homeland Security Intelligence Officer for the Sheriff of Jackson County and serves as Chair of the county Threat Assessment Committee. John also completed an exchange program in counter-terrorism with the Israeli National Police and was awarded executive certification in counter-terrorism from ICT, the Lauder School of Government in Herzliya, Israel.
In addition to his law enforcement work, John has also served in the United States Military and was called to active duty during the Persian Gulf War. John retired as a Commander from the United States Navy.
John received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of Georgia as well as a Master’s Degree in Urban Administration from Georgia State University.
