Lawrenceville, NJ— Prominently featured in The Inner Circle, Louis G. Fares II, MD, FACS, is acknowledged as a Pinnacle Life Member for his contributions to the fields of Wound Management and Hyperbaric Medicine.
Dr. Fares II pursued higher education at St. Joseph College in Philadelphia where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He then attended the University of Santo Tomas Medical School in the Philippines and graduated with a medical degree in 1978; completed a residency in general surgery at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey; and was trained in laparoscopic surgery and wound care.
Dr. Fares II launched his medical career in private practice more than 30 years ago. He transitioned to St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey where he assumed various leadership roles, including eight years as President of the medical staff; 20 years as Chairman of the Department of Surgery; and nearly a decade as Surgical Director of the Advanced Wound Center. Dr. Fares II currently serves as a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at St. Georges Medical School and his illustrious career also includes numerous leadership positions such as Program Director of the Surgical Residency Program at St. Francis Medical Center; President of the Mercer County Medical Society; and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Urban League of Metropolitan Trenton.

Dr. Fares II, a leader of the comprehensive team, is a skilled general surgeon specializing in wound healing and bariatric/surgical procedures utilizing hyperbaric medicine.
The doctor noted that General surgery encompasses a surgical specialty that focuses on various abdominal organs such as the esophagus; stomach; small bowel; colon; liver; gallbladder; and appendix, as well as the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenals. A general surgeon, such as Dr. Fares II, performs various abdominal surgeries, including interventions for intestinal conditions; abdominal wall and groin hernias; gallbladder disease; and thyroid-related cancers as well as providing comprehensive care throughout the critical care and surgical recovery stages, extending to outpatient follow-up.
A revered provider, Dr. Fares II is affiliated with many prestigious organizations including the American Medical Association (AMA) where he is an active member; a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), indicating his distinguished standing in the field; the New Jersey Medical Society; and the Mercer County Medical Society. He also enjoys Fellowship status in the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and holds board certification in general surgery from the American Board of Surgery (ABS). He explained that the ABS, an independent non-profit organization headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was established to certify surgeons who have demonstrated a comprehensive standard of education, training, and expertise.
Aside from his professional pursuits, Dr. Fares II is the Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Urban League of Metropolitan Trenton. He is also a Member of the Board of Trustees and has previously held the position of President for the Mercer County Chapter of the American Cancer Society and works as a Trenton Thunder Baseball Club team surgeon.
Dr. Fares II would like to dedicate this distinguished honor to the cherished memory of his parents, Louis G. Fares Sr, MD, FACS, and Anne M. Fares.
