Having led an impressive career for over 13 years, Top Physiatrist Dr. Roger Kasendorf is currently serving patients in his successful solo pain management/sports medicine practice on the campus of Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California. In addition to caring for patients at his private practice, Dr. Kasendorf maintains an affiliation with Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and Spark Health in Solana Beach, where he provides diagnostic evaluations for possible regenerative therapy treatments and addresses muscle musculoskeletal conditions.
In light of his academic achievements, Dr. Kasendorf obtained his Bachelors in Nutritional Science at the University of Maryland at College Park in 1999, followed by his Doctor of Osteopathy at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2003. Shortly after, he completed a medical internship at North Shore University Hospital at Plainview in 2004 and then a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Nassau University Medical Center in New York in 2007. After completing his residency, he began his career as a medical director for pain management and rehabilitation clinics in New York, including the Long Beach Medical Center as an associate program director, before moving to the San Diego area. Upon relocating to San Diego, he served as an associate program director for the Long Beach Medical Center before opening his practice in La Jolla.
Remaining abreast of the latest medical technologies and advancements, Dr. Kasendorf maintains active memberships with the American Osteopathic Association, the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine, and the International Association of Pain. He has also been involved with the American Osteopathic College of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, for which he has provided lectures and been active in conference planning.
As a testament to his professional success, Dr. Kasendorf is the recipient of several awards and accolades. He was named La Jolla’s Best Top Doctor and California Top Oestopathic Physician in 2020, among many other awards. Additionally, he is a distinguished speaker, having presented at American Osteopathic Association national conventions, the Nassau University Medical Center Grand Rounds meetings, and the New York State Osteopathic Medical Society Regional Conference, just to name a few.
Dr. Kasendorf dedicates this honorable recognition to his beloved wife and greatest professional inspiration, Sarah Appleman Kasendorf, author of Play with Your Food and Paw Prints and occupational therapist. He also dedicates this to his two children 15-year-old Ben and 12-year-old Hannah. In his spare time, Dr. Kasendorf enjoys outdoor family activities, hiking, watching funny movies, and discovering a new sport. He and his family have two dogs, Maui and Luna.
In looking to the future, Dr. Kasendorf is currently in the process of writing a book that will discuss pain management topics and is expected to be printed in 2021.
