Samir Al-Kabbani, MD — Lifetime Achiever

Knoxville, TN — Samir Al-Kabbani, MD, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Lifetime Achiever for his work in the Neurology field and in acknowledgment of his work at the East Tennessee Neurology Clinic. 

In medical practice since 1988, Dr. Al-Kabbani is a Neurologist and Owner of the East Tennessee Neurology Clinic, located at 9000 Executive Park Drive in Knoxville, TN. He is a Stroke and Neurovascular Specialist with over 33 years of experience in the medical field.

Inspired by his uncle, who was a cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Al-Kabbani pursued a career in medicine. Dr. Al-Kabbani attended Damascus University Faculty of Medicine in Damascus, Syria, graduating in 1979. He then relocated to the United States, and subsequently conducted a Fellowship, where he focused on Carotid Doppler Ultrasounds and Carotid Angiograms at Jefferson University Affiliated Hospitals from 1981-1982. He next completed a Neurology residency at the St. Louis University School of Medicine from 1983-1985, and then a second residency at Wake Forest University School of Medicine from 1985-1987. Dr. Al-Kabbani is board-certified in Forensic Medicine through the American Board of Forensic Medicine.

As a Neurologist, Dr. Al-Kabbani treats nervous system diseases, including the spinal cord and brain. He has a wide range of expertise, and has experience with neuro-rehabilitation, epilepsy, routine EEG, long-term electroencephalographic monitoring, BOTOX injection, Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) tests, EMG (electromyography), and disability evaluations. Dr. Al-Kabbani is able to treat many serious disorders that can cause pain or lessen the quality of life, including Transient Ischemic Attacks (TIA), migraines, Multiple Sclerosis, peripheral neuropathy, neuromuscular diseases, and strokes.

Outside of his clinical role, he has been surveying rehabilitation facilities throughout the United States in order to make sure they were providing the best care possible for over two decades. As a member of the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), Dr. Al-Kabbani is a workers’ compensation advocate, and offers independent medical evaluations to patients who require this service.

Dr. Al-Kabbani is a board certified Forensic Examiner through the American Board of Forensic Examiners, a Diplomate Board-Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress through the American Academy of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Certified Medical Director with the American Medical Directors Association, a Certified Approved Consultant in Clinical Hypnosis through the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, a Certified Doppler Ultrasound/Neurosonology Expert through the American Society of Neuroimaging, and a Certified Neurorehabilitation Expert. The doctor is additionally the Founding Member of the American Society of Neurorehabilitation.

Dr. Al-Kabbani is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Medical Association, the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, and the North American Spine Society. In addition, he is a Fellow of the American Epilepsy Society, a Fellow of the American Heart Association, a Fellow of the American Medical Directors Association, and a Fellow of the American College of Physician Executives, and a Certified Fellow and Disability Consultant through the American Academy of Disability Evaluating.

On a personal note, Dr. Al-Kabbani enjoys international travel, swimming, and spending time with his family, including his two adult children. He speaks four languages.
