Board-certified Ophthalmologist Dr. Marcus has led a remarkable career in his field, having accrued years of professional excellence. Prior to entering his field, he had a strong interest in engineering, particularly electrical engineering. Later on, he realized that practicing ophthalmology, according to him “seemed natural in light of the connection with visual pathways.” In his current capacity at SightMD, he is demonstrating the highest level of professionalism and integrity. He specializes in vitreo-retinal disorders of the eye, which include diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and other diseases of the retina.
Alongside his current appointment, he is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine as well as the Mt. Sinai Hospital. He is also an attending in ophthalmology on the staff of Good Samaritan Hospital, W. Islip, Southside Hospital, Bay Shore, and the Long Island Ambulatory Surgery Center.
Dr. Marcus’s acclaimed career began after he completed his medical training at Cornell University Medical College in New York. Soon thereafter, he earned a Ph.D. from the Rockefeller University, Biophysics, and Visual Neurophysiology Laboratory in New York. He also completed a prestigious Retinal Fellowship at The Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. With a commitment to excellence, Dr. Marcus is board-certified in Ophthalmology.
