Athena Alston McFadden, MS, BS, is a dedicated educator and literacy advocate committed to empowering students of all ages through education, mentorship, and community engagement. With advanced studies in reading from The Citadel and a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from South Carolina State University, she has built a strong foundation in literacy instruction and student development. Ms. McFadden focuses on educating the next generation through effective teaching practices, early childhood education, and youth advocacy initiatives that promote academic success and personal growth. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and holds life memberships with the South Carolina State University National Alumni Association and the National Council of Teachers of Reading. Beyond the classroom, she supports mentoring programs, service scholarships, and voter registration initiatives. Guided by the influence of her mentor, Dr. Haddie Hunter, Ms. McFadden remains committed to making a lasting impact in education and her community.
