Don Martin is a respected leader in the organic produce industry, known for his deep knowledge of ripening processes and his passion for delivering quality fruits and vegetables nationwide. With decades of hands-on experience, Don has developed expertise in the science of ripening—understanding how to pause the process in tomatoes but not in bananas—ensuring the best products reach consumers. As the first non-family executive at Pappas and Sons, he made a lasting impact on four family-owned produce companies, earning widespread respect within the field. He began his career with Procacci Brothers under Joe Procacci, famously known as “The Tomato King,” where he honed his craft and leadership skills. A proud member of the New England Produce Council, Don continues to influence the future of organic farming. Outside of work, he enjoys amateur astronomy, fishing, and time with his wife of forty-five years, their family, and seven grandchildren.
