William Aaron Ball has emerged as a leading figure in the field of critical minerals, bringing a decade of experience and a strong academic foundation to the forefront of geoscientific research and public discourse. A passionate geologist, speaker, and educator, Mr. Ball is committed to advancing knowledge and innovation at the intersection of energy resources and human progress.
Mr. Ball holds both a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Geoscience from the University of Tulsa, along with an Associate of Science in Geography from Tulsa Community College. He is a Certified Petroleum Geologist through the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG).
His scholarly contributions include multiple publications and presentations, such as his article in AAPG Explorer magazine “Criticality and Energy Minerals”, TEDxuTulsa talk “Rocks & Human Progress,” research featured in the Shale Shaker Digest and the Geological Society of America Abstracts with Programs. He has authored and contributed to numerous academic projects focused on structural geology, economic geography, and geoscience data visualization.
Currently serving as President of the Energy Minerals Division of the AAPG, Mr. Ball also represents the state within the National Association of Geoscience Teachers. His civic engagement includes years of service as Treasurer of the Geoscience Foundation of Tulsa and participation in mentorship programs like the Roy J. Shelmon Mentors in Applied Geology.
Mr. Ball has been widely recognized for his academic and professional excellence, receiving fellowships and awards from organizations including Chevron, the Oklahoma Geological Foundation, and the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board. A proud veteran, he served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard, where he was honored with multiple military commendations, including the Army Commendation Medal and the Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year designation.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Mr. Ball enjoys spending time with his children, Samuel and Anthony, and engaging in reading and continued learning.
