Jill Mari Embry has built a forward thinking career in biomedical engineering that spans a wide range of medical technologies rather than being limited to a single specialty. With 25 years of experience in product development and research, her work has included innovations in wound care, robotics, neural aneurysm treatment, spine technologies, and additional areas beyond women’s health, with more products currently in development across diverse clinical applications.
While some of her work addresses women’s health needs, she emphasizes that her expertise extends far beyond that scope, challenging the common assumption that women engineers are confined to designing only for women. Ms. Embry specializes in the development of innovative medical devices for women, including next generation intrauterine devices and tools designed to support safe and effective pelvic examinations in the home setting. Her work integrates biomedical engineering, biomaterials, and biomechanics to create solutions that are both scientifically rigorous and user centered. Through her efforts, she aims to remove barriers to care while giving women greater autonomy over their health.
Ms. Embry earned a Master’s degree in biomedical engineering from The Ohio State University in 1998. She previously completed a Bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from DePaul University in 1990. Her academic foundation has supported a career dedicated to translating complex science into practical and impactful health solutions.
Throughout her professional journey, Ms. Embry has remained focused on innovation that serves a global population. Her work reflects a commitment to empowering women and supporting underrepresented groups through thoughtful design, inclusive development practices, and mentorship.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Ms. Embry enjoys horse riding and values the influence and support of her parents, Wayne and Theresa, who played a significant role in her personal and professional success.
