Jennifer Zhang Mckenna – Outreach Director

Winchester, MA – Prominently featured in The Inner Circle, Jennifer Zhang-Mckenna is recognized as a Pinnacle Professional Member for her contributions to her deep commitment to education, community service and professional excellence.

Ms. Zhang Mckenna has built a distinguished reputation defined by her dedication to education, community service, and professional excellence. Since 2006, she has served as an invoice data analyst for a government defense contractor, where she is responsible for auditing civilian project invoices. In this role, she applies a meticulous and disciplined approach to ensure fiscal responsibility, accurate compliance with contractual obligations, and appropriate stewardship of taxpayer funds.

In addition to her professional work, Ms. Zhang Mckenna is a co founder of the Winchester School of Chinese Culture, a nonprofit organization established in 2004 by a group of Chinese mothers committed to preserving language and cultural education. She has served in multiple leadership roles, including principal, vice principal, and outreach director, dedicating more than twenty years to the school’s growth and success.

Originally founded as a weekend language program, the school expanded under Ms. Zhang Mckenna’s leadership in response to parents who sought more comprehensive instruction. Despite having no prior experience developing after school programs, she collaborated closely with local education departments and municipal authorities to secure licensing, facilities, and transportation. The expanded after school program began with ten students in 2007 and has grown to serve several hundred students by 2025. The original Sunday program, which started with thirty students, now serves approximately seven hundred students.

Ms. Zhang Mckenna’s journey into educational leadership was inspired by her own children. When existing Chinese language curricula did not meet her expectations, she and her fellow founders implemented a curriculum developed by a Chinese scholar from Stanford University. The Winchester School of Chinese Culture became the first school in Massachusetts to adopt this approach designed specifically for children growing up outside of China. In recognition of her contributions, she received the Outstanding Community Leader Recognition in 2020 from the Massachusetts House of Representatives.

Her greatest professional fulfillment comes from witnessing student success. Many of her students achieve strong proficiency in Chinese communication and earn high scores on the Advanced Placement Chinese examination as early as ninth and tenth grade. She is particularly proud when former students return to volunteer, mentoring younger children in mathematics and assisting seniors with English instruction, further strengthening a culture of academic excellence and civic engagement.

Ms. Zhang Mckenna earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture Engineering from the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston and worked as an engineer for eight years. She later completed coursework toward a Master of Business Administration at the University of Massachusetts, expanding her expertise in business management and organizational leadership. Her professional affiliations include membership in the Chinese American Association of Andover, board service with Andover Chinese Culture, and involvement with the Winchester Senior Center, reflecting her commitment to intergenerational learning.

Born in Shanghai, Ms. Zhang Mckenna is deeply influenced by traditional Chinese culture and practices Falun Dafa, a Buddhist school spiritual discipline rooted in truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance. She credits her success to attentive listening and a collaborative leadership style that prioritizes community needs. Outside of her professional and volunteer commitments, she enjoys spending time with her family, learning new subjects, cooking, and exploring finance and emerging technology. Looking ahead, she hopes to foster greater global appreciation for traditional culture by encouraging authentic understanding and meaningful cultural exchange.
