Patty E. Rodgers has built a distinguished career as both a fine artist and classical guitarist, earning recognition for more than four decades of creative achievement. Through her original artwork, music instruction, and performances, she has inspired audiences, students, and collectors while establishing a reputation for artistic excellence and dedication to the arts.
As a fine art painter and owner of Denton County Guitar Studio, Ms. Rodgers combines her passions for visual art and music. Her artwork explores the interplay of light, color, and space, creating compositions known for their quiet mystery, spaces that invite contemplation rather than explanation, and fragmented moments. In addition to producing original paintings and drawings, she provides private guitar instruction and classical playing instruction and performs at galleries, weddings, and community events throughout Texas.
Ms. Rodgers earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art from Simmons University in 1978 and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1981. She later obtained a K–12 Art Teaching Certificate through Central Connecticut State University, which supported her work as an educator and mentor.
Over the course of her career, Ms. Rodgers has exhibited extensively throughout the United States. Her work has been featured in exhibitions hosted by the Visual Arts Society of Texas, Gallery 8680 in Frisco, The Other Art Fair in Dallas, Art Spectrum Miami, art fairs in Illinois, and the International Art Fair in Reno. In the early 2000’s she was represented by The Gail Brown Gallery, Provincetown, MA and The Gregory Gaymont Gallery in Chicago. Her artwork is held in private collections across the United States and in eight additional countries, reflecting the broad appeal of her artistic vision. Her work is also included in public collections at Southern Connecticut State University and Wausau Hospital in Wisconsin.
In addition to maintaining a successful studio practice, Ms. Rodgers has embraced online platforms to reach collectors worldwide. Her artwork is available through Saatchi Art and Art Finder, expanding her audience internationally while allowing her to connect directly with art enthusiasts and collectors.
Before focusing full time on her artistic career, Ms. Rodgers taught art in public schools for approximately a decade and later provided private art lessons in Illinois. Her dedication to education continues through her classical guitar instruction at Denton County Guitar Studio, where she helps students develop both technical skill and an appreciation for music.
Her professional affiliations include membership in the Visual Art League of Lewisville, the Visual Arts Society of Texas, The Provincetown Art Association and participation in The Other Art Fair in Dallas, which is affiliated with Saatchi Art. She is also active in a community “Radiant Classical Guitar Ensemble” through the University of Texas at Dallas.
Ms. Rodgers’ artistic accomplishments have been recognized with several honors, including a First Place Award from the Visual Art League of Lewisville in 2024 and an Honorable Mention in painting from the Visual Arts Society of Texas in 2024.
Outside of her professional work, she enjoys walking, weightlifting, singing, and kayaking. These activities provide inspiration and balance while supporting her active and creative lifestyle.
