R. M. Corky Taylor has built a remarkable career as an entrepreneur, business leader, and fourth generation steward of one of Kentucky’s most historic distilling brands. As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company, he has successfully revived a family legacy while earning international recognition for producing some of the world’s finest bourbon and rye whiskey.
Founded in 1889, Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company was reestablished under Mr. Taylor’s leadership in 2011. Working alongside his son, he purchased and renovated a historic Louisville property and restored the Peerless name to prominence within the spirits industry. Under his guidance, the company has become known for its commitment to craftsmanship, quality, and authenticity rather than production volume.
Mr. Taylor earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Murray State University, where he attended on a four year golf scholarship. Before returning to his family’s distilling roots, he built a highly successful career in financial services. He founded Bencor, a company specializing in pension plan solutions for government entities, and spent approximately 25 years growing the organization before completing a strategic sale to a New York based firm located at Rockefeller Center.
Since relaunching Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company, Mr. Taylor has led the organization to numerous industry honors. In 2024, he was inducted into the Bourbon Hall of Fame. The company’s products have also earned global acclaim, including Best Bourbon Whiskey Worldwide at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in London in 2024 and Best Rye Whiskey Worldwide at the same competition in 2025.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mr. Taylor serves as a board member of the American Lung Association. He values spending time with his family, enjoying beach activities, and playing golf. He is especially proud of partnering with his son to help restore and grow the family business for future generations.
