Celine Ferland, DNP, APRN, ANP-C, has devoted 50 years to nursing and healthcare, building an extraordinary career centered on compassionate care, patient advocacy, and improving the health and independence of older adults. An experienced adult nurse practitioner specializing in geriatric care, Dr. Ferland combines decades of clinical knowledge with a deeply personal approach to helping elderly and disabled patients understand and manage their health.
Dr. Ferland currently serves as an Adult Nurse Practitioner with Signify Health in Bangor, Maine, conducting in home health evaluations for Medicare beneficiaries and patients covered through other health plans. Her comprehensive assessments include physical examinations, medical reviews, point of care diagnostic testing, and health screenings. She evaluates findings and provides recommendations to healthcare providers to support appropriate follow up and continuity of care.
Her expertise encompasses geriatric care, physical assessment, bone density and respiratory screening, diabetes screening, and blood and urine testing related to kidney health. Patient education is equally important to her practice. Dr. Ferland takes time to explain results, teach patients how to properly use medical equipment, and connect individuals with social and community resources when additional assistance is needed.
Her five decade career has included advanced nursing practice across multiple states. Prior to her current work, she served as a primary care provider within assisted living communities in the Boston area. She also completed clinical doctoral practicum experience at Navigating Wellness Primary Care. Earlier in her career, Dr. Ferland demonstrated her commitment to advancing the nursing profession when, in 1985, she became one of four registered nurses who pioneered the Association des Infirmières et Infirmiers d’Urgence du Québec, an organization supporting emergency nursing professionals in Quebec.
Dr. Ferland earned her Associate of Science in Nursing from Collège Édouard Montpetit in Quebec, Canada. She subsequently earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maine in Orono in 2004 and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts Boston in 2012. Continuing her commitment to lifelong learning, she completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Frontier Nursing University, 2026.
She is a certified nurse practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board and holds advanced practice registered nurse licenses in Maine, Massachusetts, and New Mexico. Her professional affiliations include the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Maine Nurse Practitioner Association, New Mexico Nurse Practitioner Council, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, into which she was inducted in recognition of her commitment to nursing excellence.
Dr. Ferland credits mentor Karen Lee Dick, PhD, GNP-BC, FAANP, as an important influence on her professional journey. Outside of healthcare, she enjoys swimming and reading. She is also a proud mother of three children and grandmother of seven grandchildren.
Looking ahead, Dr. Ferland plans to open a clinic dedicated to treating elderly patients, extending her lifelong commitment to geriatric healthcare and patient advocacy. Guided by compassion and empathy, she believes patients deserve not only quality medical care, but also the education and resources necessary to understand their health and participate confidently in their care. After 50 years in nursing, Dr. Ferland remains dedicated to improving the lives of older adults and ensuring they receive knowledgeable, respectful, and individualized support.
