With nearly 20 years of experience in geospatial technology and information systems, Mike Liska has built an impressive career as a GIS specialist, advisor, and leader. Currently serving as GIS Manager at HR Green Inc., Mr. Liska has led HR Green’s GIS department since 2020, driving the company’s use of advanced geospatial applications to support urban and regional planning, data management, and infrastructure maintenance. Mr. Liska started as a GIS Specialist with HR Green, Inc. in 2010. He then served as a GIS practice advisor at HR Green Inc. from 2014 to 2020, guiding the firm’s strategic development in geospatial solutions.

Mr. Liska’s background includes pivotal roles in both public and private sectors, having worked with Xenia Rural Water District from 2006 to 2010 as a GPS and GIS specialist. In this role, he supported efforts to ensure reliable access to potable water for rural and suburban communities by integrating GIS technologies into the district’s operations. Before this, he honed his technical skills as a small engine mechanic at Aero Rental, where he contributed to providing equipment solutions for diverse residential and commercial projects. His career trajectory reflects a commitment to leveraging GIS technology for tangible community benefits, with a focus on practical and advisory roles in GIS and GPS applications.

An advocate for continuous learning, Mr. Liska emphasizes the importance of staying current with technology without being overwhelmed by rapid advancements. He believes in meticulous notetaking and thorough documentation, principles he encourages in his team to foster efficiency, reduce redundancy, and promote a deep understanding of tasks and processes. Mr. Liska holds an Associate of Science in Global Positioning Systems and Geographic Information Systems, earned in 2005, and a Bachelor of Science in Geographic Information Systems and Information Technology from American Sentinel University, completed in 2013. Certified as a Part 107 Drone Pilot, he incorporates drone technology into HR Green’s GIS operations, enhancing data collection and analysis capabilities. He is an active member of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association and the National Association of Sewer Service Companies, where he contributes to advancing geospatial technology for community infrastructure projects.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Liska is dedicated to community service, serving as a board member for Washington Community Schools, president, and board president with a local youth baseball club, and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and Day of Caring. His personal and professional life reflects his commitment to community enrichment and innovation.
