She earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, followed by a Master of Social Work from Andrews University. She later obtained a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on depth psychology from the Pacific Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, California.
