Donald M. Currie has established a distinguished career in electrical engineering and machinery manufacturing, marked by over 25 years of technical innovation, leadership, and environmental advocacy. For more than two decades, he has been an integral part of Caterpillar, where he currently serves as a senior manufacturing technical steward. Since assuming this role in 2024, Mr. Currie has played a key role in advancing the company’s technological capabilities and sustainability initiatives.
At Caterpillar, Mr. Currie collaborates with engineering teams to develop and refine salvage processes, enhance design modifications for remanufactured products, and rejuvenate electronic devices to minimize landfill waste. His work not only drives cost efficiency and environmental responsibility but also aligns with Caterpillar’s long-term commitment to circular manufacturing. In addition to his technical expertise, Mr. Currie serves as a mentor, guiding team members to expand their knowledge in design, innovation, and applied engineering. His leadership fosters creativity and ensures that both legacy and modern technologies are seamlessly integrated into production processes.
Mr. Currie began his academic journey at the Community College of the Air Force in Montgomery, Alabama, where he earned an Associate of Science in electrical electronics engineering in 1989. He went on to complete a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering at Chapman University in Orange, California, in 1990. He also holds a primary education teaching certificate from the Illinois State Board of Education, reflecting his passion for instruction and mentorship.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Currie is actively involved in civic and philanthropic efforts. He supports organizations such as the American National Red Cross, Ronald McDonald House Charities, and United Way Worldwide, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to service and community betterment.
Married to his wife, Teresa for 43 years, Mr. Currie attributes much of his success to her enduring support. Looking ahead, his goal is to continue strengthening his team’s technical foundation, ensuring that the next generation of engineers at Caterpillar carries forward a legacy of innovation, sustainability, and excellence.
