Donalyn Dela Cruz, a seasoned communications strategist, brings over 25 years of experience to her role as principal of DDC Consulting LLC. Since founding the firm in 2021, she has supported nonprofits, government agencies, and businesses across Hawai‘i with expertise in crisis communication, public relations, strategic planning, and campaign development.

Throughout her career, Ms. Dela Cruz has held key leadership roles including communications director for the Hawai‘i State Department of Education, and press secretary to U.S. Senator Daniel Akaka and deputy communications director to Gov. Neil Abercrombie. Her portfolio includes shaping statewide education messaging, managing legislative media relations, and advancing public understanding of energy, housing, and cultural policy.

Ms. Dela Cruz holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and a master’s degree in national security policy studies from the Naval Postgraduate School. Beyond her professional work, she remains civically engaged through service on several boards, including the American Council for Young Political Leaders, Child & Family Service, the Daniel K. Akaka Family Foundation, and the University of Hawai‘i Alumni Association. She is also committed to pro bono efforts to preserve and promote Hawai‘i’s cultural heritage.
