Evelyn Susan Hendricks – Classroom Teacher

Jay, FL – Prominently featured in The Inner Circle, Evelyn Susan Hendricks is acknowledged as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member for her contributions in Education and Community Service.

Evelyn Susan Hendricks devoted her career to shaping young minds as a second-grade elementary school teacher with the Santa Rosa County School Board. Throughout her years in the classroom, she taught every subject with passion and dedication. Known for her dry wit and humor, she was celebrated by students and colleagues alike, even earning the title of the funniest teacher at her school. Her students, affectionately called the “Jellybeans,” cherished receiving jellybeans with their names printed on them, a tradition that reflected her creativity and love for her class.

Ms. Hendricks earned both her Bachelor of Science in elementary education and her Master’s degree in education from the University of West Florida. Beyond the classroom, she contributed to the profession through her involvement with several committees, including the Elementary Education Superintendents Committee and the Calendar Committee, where she helped shape the academic calendar each year.

Dedicated to service beyond education, Ms. Hendricks and her husband generously volunteered their time at Jay Hospital, part of the Baptist Healthcare system. They assisted in both the emergency room and gastrointestinal department, continuing her lifelong commitment to supporting others.

She credits much of her inspiration to her mentor, Dorothy A. Diamond, Ed.D., and honors the memory of her mother, Ophelia Shell Hendricks, herself an educator, who instilled in her the values of teaching and service.

Now retired, Ms. Hendricks reflects proudly on a career that touched countless lives, leaving a lasting impact on students, colleagues, and her community.
