Dr. Latisha Smith-Chase has built a respected career in medicine, specializing in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers and other wounds using advanced wound care treatments and hyperbaric medicine. By utilizing a pressureized chamber, she supervises their treatment with oxygen under pressure, improving outcomes for those facing limb threatening complications. Her expertise brings hope and healing to patients who require advanced wound care.

Dr. Smith-Chase began her academic journey at Michigan State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in medical technology. She went on to receive her Doctorate of Medicine from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, before returning to Michigan’s Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids to complete her residency in internal medicine. Furthering her expertise, she trained in diving and hyperbaric medicine at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu.

She holds a board certification in Internal Medicine as well as board certification in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine. Her professional affiliations include the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society, reflecting her dedication to staying at the forefront of her specialty. She serves as a board member of the Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation, in keeping her desire to work toward the health of all those who dwell in Wisconsin. She also participates in nursing education for advanced practice nurses in Wisconsin lecturing at their annual conference.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Smith-Chase is also a talented vocalist and shares her love of music as a member of the Madison Symphony Orchestra Chorus. In loving memory of her mother, Martha Smith, RPh, Dr. Smith-Chase continues to dedicate her career to advancing patient care.
