Loretta L. Felts is a trusted leader and advocate whose career reflects decades of dedication to helping individuals overcome substance abuse and mental health challenges. As the founder of the Recovery Empowerment Awareness Program, Corp, established in 2021 in direct response to the heightened struggles brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, Ms. Felts connects people in need with resources that align with their unique motivations and goals for recovery. Her work is guided by a deep belief in meeting individuals where they are and empowering them to take meaningful steps toward lasting change.

Ms. Felts’ career in life coaching and counselling is built on a strong foundation of education and specialized training. She earned her master’s degree in psychology from Grand Canyon University in 2014 and her bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Phoenix in 2007. She is certified as an international alcohol drug counselor II, an anger management specialist, and a telemental health provider — credentials that allow her to deliver comprehensive, relevant support to each client.

Her professional background includes hands-on roles as a residential advisor at St. Jude Recovery Center and as a behavioral health residential case manager for the Dekalb Community Service Board, where she gained valuable experience in case management, harm reduction, health education, and one-on-one counseling. Today, through the Recovery Empowerment Awareness Program, she continues to help people navigate the complex intersections of mental health, substance use, and recovery.

Ms. Felts is also committed to giving back through civic engagement and creative outreach. She volunteers her time with autistic children and works as an independent journalist and international press agent, producing community-focused content on her YouTube channel, “What’s Happening in These Streets.” She has written and produced independent films, music projects, and books, including Step Inside the Vault, Small Conversation Records, Music Business 101, and My Trauma Doesn’t Define Me — all reflecting her mission to inspire others through storytelling.

A member of the National Black Radio Hall of Fame, Ms. Felts has earned recognition for her work, including the Most Improved Radio Personality Award, accolades for outstanding customer service, and a nomination for the Philips Consumer Electronics President Award. She credits mentors like Scotty Andrews (V-103 FM), Abdul Mannon (WRFG 89.3 FM) her family, friends, and teachers like Ms. Isabelle Holston (Athletic Coach Gordon High) encouraging her journey and unwavering sense of purpose.

When she’s not working, Loretta enjoys basketball, walking, writing poetry, and producing music and film — all ways she channels her energy into creativity and community connection. She cherishes her family, friends past and present, and holds a deep gratitude for herself for always pushing forward.
