Dr. Lori B. Pitcock has devoted over 20 years to the field of education, consistently championing academic excellence and student empowerment. In 2024, she assumed the role of Dean of Students at Cecil County Public Schools in Elkton, Maryland, where she is responsible for cultivating a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the holistic development of every student.

Throughout her career, Dr. Pitcock has remained committed to advancing instructional leadership and educational innovation. Her academic background includes a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from the American College of Education, two master’s degrees—one in Elementary Education Curriculum Instruction and Assessment with a concentration in Reading Intervention from Towson University, and another in Educational Leadership. She also holds post-baccalaureate certifications in English as a Second Language, STEM Leadership, and Gifted Education from Salisbury University, Towson University, and McDaniel College, respectively.

Her expertise in student affairs is further underscored by her long-standing involvement in specialized education. From 2016 to 2023, she served as a Gifted and Talented Instructional Coach, during which she developed a high-impact program that earned her the Maryland Gifted and Talented Teacher Award in both 2018 and 2019. In addition, she authored “Teacher Perceptions of Twice-Exceptionality: A Qualitative Study”, published by ProQuest in 2022, reflecting her scholarly dedication to supporting twice-exceptional learners.

Dr. Pitcock is an active member of several leading educational organizations, including the National Association for Gifted Children, the International Literacy Association, the Council for Children with Behavioral Disability, and the National Education Association. These affiliations align with her mission to create equitable opportunities and elevate instructional practices across diverse learning communities

In her personal time, Dr. Pitcock enjoys sewing and cherishing moments with her two sons. Looking ahead, she remains focused on fostering student achievement, advocating for inclusive education, and driving continuous growth within her district and beyond. Her leadership philosophy is grounded in the belief that every student deserves to be seen, supported, and challenged to reach their full potential.
