Dr. Sathish Karmegam, MD, MMM, FACP, is a respected internist and nephrologist whose diverse international training and deep commitment to wellness have shaped a distinguished career in medicine. Currently practicing in Texas, Dr. Karmegam provides a holistic approach to care, integrating internal medicine with specialized services such as hormone replacement therapy, IV nutrition, and sexual wellness, all tailored to promote long-term patient health and vitality.

Dr. Karmegam’s educational and clinical journey spans four continents, providing him with a unique perspective on global health systems and patient needs. He earned his MBBS from the Stanley Medical College in Chennai, India, and completed a one-year internship at Trafford Hospital in Manchester, United Kingdom. He further expanded his international experience with an internal medicine residency at St. John of God Hospital in Perth, Western Australia, before completing his formal internal medicine residency at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He later pursued a fellowship in nephrology at Methodist Dallas Hospital and earned a master’s degree in medical management from the University of Southern California.

Board certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology, Dr. Karmegam is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He remains actively involved in professional organizations, including the Texas Medical Association, the Dallas County Medical Society, and the American Society of Nephrology.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Karmegam is a dedicated educator, serving as the Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program affiliated with the HCA Medical City Hospitals. Through his teaching, he helps prepare the next generation of physicians with an emphasis on evidence-based care and patient-centered communication.

Driven by a passion for accessibility and equity in healthcare, Dr. Karmegam also founded Desi Direct Primary Care, a clinic that provides non-emergent services to new immigrants and uninsured populations, offering an affordable and compassionate alternative for those navigating the healthcare system for the first time.

Dr. Karmegam credits much of his professional inspiration to his father, Chinnasamy Karmegam, MD, a dedicated primary care physician in India whose lifelong service to patients set the foundation for his medical values.

Looking ahead, Dr. Karmegam remains focused on bridging gaps in care delivery, promoting physician leadership in underserved communities, and expanding innovative wellness services to improve health outcomes across diverse populations.
