Alexander Trost, DNP, FNP-C, ACHPN, has dedicated his career to providing compassionate, patient centered care to individuals living with advanced and end of life diagnoses. A fellowship trained palliative medicine nurse practitioner with more than a decade of experience, Dr. Trost specializes in symptom management, supportive medical care, and thoughtful goals of care discussions that help patients and families navigate complex healthcare decisions with greater clarity and confidence.
Dr. Trost provides personalized in home care tailored to the medical needs, priorities, and circumstances of each patient. His approach emphasizes trust, honesty, and open communication, ensuring patients and their loved ones understand their options and remain actively involved in decisions surrounding their care. His extensive education and clinical training have provided a multidisciplinary foundation for his work. Dr. Trost earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Russian from Hunter College in New York City before completing his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Johns Hopkins University. He then spent three years as an emergency room registered nurse at Lenox Hill Hospital, gaining valuable experience caring for patients with urgent and complex medical needs.
Dr. Trost subsequently earned his Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Lehman College and completed advanced graduate education in adult geriatric acute care at the University of Pennsylvania. He further specialized through a fellowship in palliative care at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center before earning his Doctor of Nursing Practice from Hofstra University.
Dr. Trost is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and holds advanced certification in hospice and palliative nursing. His professional affiliations include the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association.
Throughout his career, Dr. Trost has remained committed to combining clinical expertise with genuine compassion for patients and their families.
