St. Paul, MN – Prominently featured in The Inner Circle, Charlene E. McEvoy, MD, MPH is acknowledged as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member for her contributions to Advancing Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine Through Patient Care and Research.

Dr. Charlene E. McEvoy is a dedicated physician, educator, and researcher specializing in pulmonary medicine, critical care, and sleep disorders. In addition to treating patients, she serves as an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota, the Medical Director of the Asthma Center, and a Senior Research Investigator for asthma and COPD with the Health Partners Institute. Her expertise focuses on airway diseases such as asthma, COPD, and complex sleep conditions, particularly those stemming from neuromuscular disorders.
Dr. McEvoy began her academic journey earning a Bachelor of Science in English Literature with a minor in Chemistry from Marquette University before completing her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. She went on to complete her internal medicine residency, where she served as Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in pulmonary critical care. She also earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology from the University of Minnesota affiliated hospitals. She is board-certified in pulmonary medicine and sleep medicine.
Beyond her clinical and academic roles, Dr. McEvoy is actively involved in medical research and advocacy. She is a board member of the American Lung Association’s local chapter and a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the American Thoracic Society, and the American College of Chest Physicians (Fellow).
Dr. McEvoy is equally dedicated to community service. She volunteers with the Minnesota Boat Club for river conservancy and served on the board of Wilderness Inquiry, Minnesota Boat Club, and Schubert Club. Additionally, she is a member of President of the Parents Advisory Council for Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota.
As she looks to the future, Dr. McEvoy remains committed to advancing patient care, expanding research in asthma, COPD, and sleep disorders, and mentoring the next generation of medical professionals.
