Rockwall, TX— Chima Nathaniel Asikaiwe is being recognized by Continental Whos Who as a Pinnacle Life Member for his contributions to the psychiatry field.
Dr. Asikaiwe earned his medical degree from the University of Ibadan in 1994. Hailing from Nigeria, he moved to Dublin Ireland, where he did Residency in Psychiatry at the Dublin University, Trinity College Psychiatry Residency program, under the Royal college of psychiatrists, and the College of psychiatrist of Ireland. He then relocated to the United States and completed his residency in psychiatry at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in 2015. The doctor finished a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University, New York in 2016. He attained board certification in psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). According to the doctor, ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists. Dr. Asikaiwe notes that his goal is to keep patients healthy, stable, functional, and productive.
Dr. Asikaiwe serves patients at Greathope Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Services in Garland Texas. At the initial visit, his clients are greeted with a warm welcome, thus initiating the process for the patient and provider to establish rapport and understanding gradually. He works with a team of highly trained therapists, nurse practitioners, counselors, and psychologists to provide comprehensive care. According to the doctor, he helps patients manage depression, schizophrenia, anxiety, bipolar, mood, sleep, and other psychiatric conditions. He also treats children with psychiatric disorders including ADHD, depression, anxiety, and autism spectrum disorder with behavioral problems. He works closely with the patient’s family to provide support and education to understand the illness and participate in the care and support for their loved one. Dr. Asikaiwe believes that when his patients are healthy and stable, patients and their families are happy.
The doctor notes that psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose and treat patients with mental , emotional and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication and evaluate treatment results.
Dr. Asikaiwe is associated with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology; AMA; and Texas Medical Association. He is a regular volunteer at his children’s school, and helps the needy in his community.
