David H.A. John, MD — Exceptional Healthcare Professional

Brooklyn, NY — David H.A. John, MD, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as an Exceptional Healthcare Professional for his outstanding achievements in Adult Preventive Medicine and in acknowledgment of his work with Gotham Health-Morrisania Health Center.

With nearly 30 years of experience in Family Medicine, Dr. John currently serves as Chief Medical Officer of Gotham Health. As part of the NYC + Hospitals network, Gotham is one of the largest federally-qualified health clinics across the five New York City boroughs. The clinics focus on providing primary and preventative care to patients. As CMO, Dr. John oversees daily operations and program development to ensure that the highest level of medical care is provided.

Dr. John has demonstrated leadership and inspiration to his medical colleagues throughout his career and a steadfast desire to provide his patients with the best medical care possible. Dr. John serves many immigrants from impoverished communities such as the Dominican Republic and West Africa, suffering from vast healthcare disparities. Inspired by his work with his patients, the doctor is a staunch advocate for equality for the underprivileged. He has worked diligently to improve medical outcomes through population health programs. In addition, he implemented a standardized approach to adolescent healthcare to include mental health and substance abuse screenings.

In pursuit of his medical career, Dr. John obtained his Bachelor of Science from the City University of New York. He earned his Medical Degree from Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Dr. John furthered his medical training with an Internal Medicine Internship and a Residency in Family Medicine. He is board-certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine. He is also a certified physician in his home country with the Medical Board of Trinidad and Tobago.

Dr. John returned to Trinidad as a medical volunteer in 1994, where he provided care to HIV-infected babies and children at the Cyril Ross Nursery. He serves as a senior member of the Caribbean Women’s Health Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting patients with HIV screening, housing, and other social services. Dr. John maintains an active membership with the American Medical Association among his professional affiliations.

In recognition of his contributions to healthcare in Brooklyn, Dr. John was honored with a special proclamation from the Mayor of New York City.
