Dr. Shapiro pursued higher education at Bowdoin College where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and achieved his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He completed an internship and orthopedic surgery residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in 1993 and finished a sports medicine fellowship at Tufts/New England Medical Center in 1994.

A specialist in orthopedic surgery focused on knee and shoulder surgeries, Dr. Shapiro has been managing partner and president of Orthopedic Surgery Associates since 1994. The doctor notes that this is a group practice offering comprehensive orthopedic care in South Florida.

Dr. Shapiro has received many accolades during his illustrious career and considers performing 2,600 shoulder surgeries and 3.600 knee surgeries among his greatest accomplishments.
