He further honed his skills through a residency in Prosthodontics, which he completed at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Memphis. Dr. McCool is an active member of several dental study clubs and associations, including the Atlanta Dawson Study Club, Atlanta Seattle Study Club, RV Tucker Gold Castings Study Club, Paradigm Dental Implant Study Group, American College of Prosthodontics, American Dental Association (ADA), Georgia Dental Association, Northern District Dental Society, and the Hinman Dental Society. His community involvement extends to his active participation in Lions International, and his dedication to philanthropy is evident through his instrumental role in raising funds for Gwinnett Medical Center.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of dentistry, Dr. McCool was honored with the “Passion for Dentistry Award” by the Dawson Academy in March 2016.
