Charlestown, RI — Irwin Morton Birnbaum is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Trusted Professional in the field of Law for his years of offering first-rate legal services and teaching the next generation of Law students.
Mr. Birnbaum has been a lawyer, legal educator, and distinguished member of the Yale University community for many years. He worked as an Adjunct Professor and Senior Advisor at the School of Medicine from the 1990s to the 2000s.
Mr. Birnbaum graduated from New York University in 1961 with his J.D. degree. He began his career as a Budget Officer at the Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, working his way up to Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. After leaving the hospital in 1986, he joined Yale University as Deputy Dean and Chief Operating Officer of the School of Medicine. There he taught about public health, health policy, and administration. In 2004, he moved from Senior Advisor to Dean of Yale University, with an appointment to Senior Advisor to the Robert Wood Johnson Clinician Scholars Program at Yale.
In addition, Mr. Birnbaum has served on the board of the FFH Insurance Company, Federation of Jewish Philanthropies Services Company, the Medical Center insurance Company in Vermont, FOJP Service Corporation, and the Jewish Home for the Aged in New Haven, CT. He served as an executive committee member of the Hospital Trustees of New York State. He is currently a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine, a member of the American Academy of Hospital Attorneys, and a member of the Bar Association of the City of New York.
Mr. Birnbaum is the author of “Montefiore Medical Center and the Loeb Center Experience: A Hospital’s Fiscal Perspective,” and was the editor of the Treatise on Health Care Law.
He has been awarded with Marquis Who’s Who, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in Finance and Business, and Who’s Who in Finance and Industry.
In his current capacity, he is a Trustee of the Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, and the South County Health Systems in South Kingston, RI, and is currently on the Board of Trustees of the Hospital Association of Rhode Island.
