James Wasas Leads Environmental Innovation in Research, Product Development, and Manufacturing. Mr. Wasas brings a wealth of scientific expertise and leadership to the forefront of environmental innovation. As chief science officer of Standard H2 Inc. since 2019 and board chairman since 2021, he has played a central role in shaping the company’s mission to advance environmentally favorable green technologies. He also serves as chief science officer and board chairman of H2 Final Filter Inc., where he leads pioneering efforts to improve air and water quality through science-driven solutions.
Mr. Wasas is widely recognized for his commitment to environmental sustainability, clean energy, and public health. His work includes the development of pathogen-eliminating PPE and filtration systems for air and water, as well as technologies that remove hydrogen sulfide and other harmful odors from gases and liquids. His strategic vision continues to position these projects at the intersection of innovation and global impact.
A graduate of Rutgers University, Mr. Wasas has built a career across research, product development, refining, and manufacturing. His prior roles include chief science officer at Kent PaverBrick LLC, director of gold and silver refining at the Great American Mint and Refinery Inc., and chief operating officer at EnviroPavers. He also served as chief science officer for Swapsol Corp. and Conklin Marketing Inc., and worked for 14 years in Ecuador in gold and silver ore processing and refining. He credits his professional development to the mentorship of Dr. Gene Hall of Rutgers University, who continues to inspire his commitment to advancing chemical research.
Mr. Wasas is active in community and national causes, supporting organizations such as the Gear Up Foundation, Salvation Army, Statue of Liberty Club, Disabled Veterans, Wounded Warriors, and Rutgers University. He is also proud of his military service, having achieved the rank of Captain within just three years during deployments in Japan and Thailand.
He expresses deep gratitude to his wife, Mariavicenta, for her support throughout their 35-year journey together, and to their two daughters. Looking ahead, Mr. Wasas remains focused on expanding his research, with a particular goal of defeating PFAS and other “forever chemicals” that threaten human and environmental health. His philosophy is rooted in reading, research, and continuous learning, ensuring his work continues to deliver meaningful solutions for future generations.
