Joseph P. Joyce has built a distinguished career in nonprofit leadership, advocacy, and community impact, with a strong focus on supporting individuals and families within the autism and special needs communities. Through his longstanding involvement with organizations such as the Autism Society of America, he has played a vital role in expanding access to resources, education, and support services nationwide.
Mr. Joyce is recognized for his leadership in people management and his ability to guide nonprofit organizations toward meaningful, measurable outcomes. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Autism Society of America since 2012 and held the position of Chairman of the Board from 2016 to 2021, contributing to strategic initiatives that have strengthened the organization’s national reach and impact.
In addition to his work with the Autism Society, Mr. Joyce has been actively involved with several prominent organizations, including the Autism Science Foundation and the National Down Syndrome Society. He also serves as President of the Keystone Community Foundation, where he has helped raise more than $2 million over the past decade to support autism awareness and related initiatives. Through these efforts, funding has been directed to organizations such as the Down Syndrome Center of Louisville, Kentucky and Susquehanna Service Dogs, further extending support to individuals with special needs.
Mr. Joyce earned a Master of Business Administration from Penn State University, providing a strong foundation for his leadership in nonprofit governance and organizational development. He is also a member of the CPCU Society for more than 30 years and remains engaged in local initiatives, including “321 for Life” in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Among his many contributions, Mr. Joyce established the David Joyce Advocate of the Year Award, recognizing individuals who demonstrate exceptional commitment to improving the lives of those within the autism community. This initiative reflects his dedication to honoring advocacy and inspiring continued service.
His passion for this work is deeply personal. Mr. Joyce is the father of two sons, one with Down syndrome and another profoundly affected by autism, experiences that have shaped his commitment to advocacy and support. He is supported by his wife, Elise, as well as his daughter Tara and grandchildren.
Outside of his professional and philanthropic efforts, Mr. Joyce enjoys playing tennis and golf. Looking ahead, he aims to further increase autism awareness at the executive level while expanding resources and support for affected individuals and families.
