Karen S. McCoy, MD, FAAP — Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Ohio State University

Columbus, OH — Karen S. McCoy, MD, FAAP, is being recognized Continental Whos Who as a Distinguished Healthcare Provider in the medical field and for her professional excellence in multiple roles at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Ohio State University.

Dr. McCoy earned her medical degree (M.D) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed her internship and residency in Pediatrics at North Carolina Memorial, and she finished her Fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology and Cystic Fibrosis from Arizona Health Science Center.

Dr. McCoy specializes in general pediatric pulmonary care at Nationwide Children’s Hospital Ohio State University. According to the doctor, Nationwide Children’s Hospital is one of the largest and most comprehensive pediatric hospitals and research institutes in the United States. Dr. McCoy also serves as Chief of the Division of Pulmonary Medicine and a Professor of Pediatrics at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. The Ohio State College of Medicine is an esteemed institution, leading the way in medical education excellence through modern curriculum and innovative research.

Dr. McCoy is the Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Center and has a nationally funded Research and Development Program. She is the co-Principal Investigator of the Research and Development Program, funded by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world’s leader in the search for a cure for CF and supports a broad range of research initiatives.

The doctor manages patients with Cystic Fibrosis, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, chronic dependence on mechanical ventilation, those with neuromuscular diseases, and Pediatric Asthma, and her research interest revolves around clinical outcomes and trials in Cystic Fibrosis and Asthma. She is a recipient of the Career Contribution Award and the Golden Stethoscope Award. Dr. McCoy was named Best Doctors in America by Castle Connolly. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is board certified in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine and board certified in Pediatric Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. McCoy has been the Co-Principal for the Investigation Research and Development Program since 2018. In 2019 she was designated as Nationwide Insurance Endowed Chair in Pediatric Pulmonology and cystic Fibrosis.
