Hopatcong, NJ — Karli A. Kohut, CEO, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Distinguished Executive in the Nursing and Healthcare Administration fields and in acknowledgment of her work as President and Chief Executive Officer at Silver Lake Hospital.
Ms. Karli A. Kohut, CEO, specializes in Nursing/Healthcare Administration and Infection Prevention. She has been in her current role for one and a half years, with a total of seven years in the nursing profession. Ms. Kohut began her clinical career as a bedside registered nurse at a long-term acute care hospital and rose through the ranks as a floor/charge nurse, providing rehabilitation services and caring for critically ill patients. She then became a house supervisor before taking on the area of Infection Control and managing the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ms. Kohut also led a collaborative infection control initiative with the NJDOH, concentrating on Candida Auris screening, prevention, and treatment. She and her team became locally known as the Candida Auris “task force,” educating area infection prevention teams on methods to control and treat Candida Auris.
On a personal note, her grandmother was a nurse in the same community where she currently serves; hence there is a sense of nostalgia for her.
Pertaining to her educational background, Ms. Kohut is working towards her Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration with a concentration in Leadership to be conferred in 2023. In 2019 she became board certified in infection prevention and control, subsequently leading hospital staff through the Covid-19 pandemic. Shortly thereafter, she was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in early 2021.
Among her professional memberships and associations, Ms. Kohut is actively affiliated with the American Nurses Association, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), Caldwell College School of Nursing, and the Public Health Advisory Board.
Looking to the future, one of her primary goals is to complete her Master’s degree in healthcare administration. She is also excited to participate in the planning, building, and expansion of her hospital’s units and services. She looks forward to networking with industry professionals to collaborate with and learn from.
Among her keys to success is her drive to always improve. She believes that a person’s education is never complete; there is always something new to learn.
Outside of work, Ms. Kohut enjoys spending time with her family. She has particularly liked participating in her daughter’s high school cheer booster club as secretary and watching her perform at all-star cheerleading competitions. She also enjoys vacationing at Walt Disney World and anywhere in the Caribbean.
