Dr. Vives obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers School of Engineering and earned his MD from Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Yale University, where he further honed his skills and knowledge in neurosurgery.

He is affiliated with prestigious medical institutions, including Doctors Hospital of Sarasota, Advanced Surgery Center of Sarasota, and Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where he currently serves as the Director of Advanced Neurosurgery. Dr. Vives has made significant contributions to the field and has been appointed as the Chairman of the Department of Neurosciences.

Dr. Vives brings a wealth of experience from his time at Yale University School of Medicine, where he maintained a comprehensive general neurosurgery practice at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Over a decade, he dedicated his expertise to the Sections of Epilepsy and Spine at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He also assumed key roles, including Director of the Section of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, Associate Residency Program Director, and Director of Neurotrauma.

His commitment to his profession is evident through his recognition as a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS). Dr. Vives is also a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (FAANS) and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Society of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgeons, the American Epilepsy Society, the Sarasota County Medical Society, and the World Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery.

Outside of his medical career, Dr. Vives enjoys spending quality time with his family, indulging in his passion for cooking, and immersing himself in music.
