Lexington, NC — Lloyd D. Lohr is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Trusted Gynecologist for over 50 years of professional excellence in the field of medicine and in acknowledgment of his honorable service as a Flight Surgeon in the United States Marines.
Dr. Lloyd Lohr is a retired, board-certified gynecologist who has garnered a well-deserving reputation for his exceptional work in examinations and delivering rooms. A rancher at heart and a doctor by trade, he takes pride in having delivered over 20,000 babies over the course of his career. Patients sought out his calming bedside manner and demonstrated knowledge in gynecology at Wake Forest Baptist Health — Lexington Medical Center.
Prior to his assignment at Lexington Medical Center, Dr. Lohr built an office on the campus of Lexington Medical Center and maintained a solo practice until 1974. The practice strived to provide jobs for expert staff and physicians to proudly serve the Lexington communities.
In pursuit of his medical career, Dr. Lohr attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. He received residency training in both anatomic and clinical pathology and general surgery at the Pensacola School of Aviation Medicine. He also completed aviation medicine training at the U.S. Naval School of Aviation Medicine and proudly served in the United States Marines as a flight surgeon with the Second Marine Air Wing based in Cherry Point, North Carolina during the Vietnam War. After completing his two-year military assignment in 1966, Dr. Lohr completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Committed to continuous learning, Dr. Lohr received a North Carolina State Medical License after college graduation. Then he became certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
To remain abreast of the latest medical advancements, Dr. Lohr maintains active affiliations with the Davidson County Medical Society, the Southern Medical Association, the Robert A. Walsh OB/GYN Society, and the Nathan A. Womack Surgical Society.
On a personal note, Dr. Lohr is an avid big-game hunter and tends to his cows and Quarter Horses at his farm.
