Rebecca Windsor, DVM, DACVIM – Veterinary Neurologist

Dr. Rebecca Windsor, a board-certified veterinary neurologist and neurosurgeon, has dedicated her career to clinical practice and research. As a leading veterinarian at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital, she has a passion for complex neurosurgical procedures including brain and spinal cord tumor removal and skull and spinal fracture repair. Dr. Windsor’s approach is deeply empathetic, focusing on supporting the families through the often-stressful process of managing neurological conditions in their pets. She leads the neurology department and created the Neurology Specialty Internship Program at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital to provide advanced training to help new doctors on their path to becoming veterinary neurologists.

Her work extends beyond the hospital, as she actively contributes to national research efforts with Ethos Discovery, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing veterinary medicine through innovative research. She oversees the neurology research sector and mentors over 100 interns and residents in their research projects. Her personal research focuses on neuroinflammatory diseases including using stem cells to treat an auto-immune condition in dogs that shares many similarities to multiple sclerosis in humans.

Dr. Windsor earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology from the University of Southern California before receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of California at Davis. She further honed her expertise through a small animal medicine internship at North Carolina State University and a neurology/neurosurgery residency at UC Davis. Her is board certified in Neurology and is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

Looking ahead, Dr. Windsor remains focused on developing innovative diagnostics and therapeutics to enhance the treatment of medical conditions in animals. In her next chapter, she will serve as the Senior Director of Veterinary Medical Affairs at Gallant Therapeutics, a company committed to harnessing the power of regenerative medicine through pioneering stem cell therapies that will likely change the future of animal health.
