Reza Haghayeghi – Senior Casting Quality Engineer

Dr. Reza Haghayeghi has established a distinguished career in materials engineering, with a focus on metallurgy and quality assurance, spanning over two decades. Currently, he serves as a Metallurgy Department Manager at Element. His mission is to make tomorrow safer than today. He believes by employing knowledge and expertise in materials engineering through rigorous testing, we can avoid failures in various metals and alloys. Since stepping into his role in Sept 2024, he has made a tremendous impact resulting into significant improvement in the team performance. Previously, he was acting as a senior casting quality engineer at Tesla, where he played a crucial role in overseeing the Model Y operations. He was one of the key team players and was involved in the new alloy design which is being used for Model Y and Cyber truck since July 2024. Dr. Haghayeghi was an instrumental in ensuring that all products meet the company’s rigorous quality standards through comprehensive testing and strict adherence to assembly regulations.

Dr. Haghayeghi’s expertise in metallurgy and quality assurance is backed by a robust educational background. He completed his postdoctoral studies in material science and engineering with a minor in foundry and casting at Universidade Estadual de Campinas in Brazil in 2015. He earned his PhD in materials engineering, focusing on solidification and casting, from Brunel University London in 2009, where he also obtained a materials characterization certificate. Additionally, he holds a Master of Science degree in materials identification and selection from the University of Tehran and a Bachelor of Science degree in materials engineering-industrial metallurgy from Islamic Azad University in Iran.

Throughout his career, Dr. Haghayeghi has received notable recognition for his contributions to the field. In 2015, he was awarded a prestigious postdoctoral grant from TWAS-UNESCO/FAPESP, a distinction granted to only a select few in each scientific discipline. He was also honored with a PhD scholarship from the Department of Trade and Industry in the United Kingdom.

Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Haghayeghi enjoys hiking and reading, finding joy in exploring the outdoors and expanding his knowledge.
