Chicago, IL — Suada N. Spirtovic, MD, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as an Exceptional Anesthesiologist and Pain Management Specialist in the Medical field and in acknowledgment of her work at Art of Pain.
With 40 years in the medical field, Suada N. Spirtovic, MD, specializes in anesthesiology and interventional pain management. Dr. Spirtovic is a respected general anesthesiologist, having worked in several hospitals, including Chicago’s Roseland Community Hospital and St. Bernard Hospital. In addition, for the past 11 years, she has owned and operated a private pain management practice in Chicago. At Art of Pain, Dr. Spirtovic helps patients with chronic pain issues by locating the root cause of their discomfort and suffering.
Board-certified in anesthesiology, Dr. Spirtovic is concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. Anesthesiologists have many responsibilities that include vigilant monitoring of the patient’s vital signs during surgery, managing acute pain, maintaining safety, and, most importantly, acting as the patient’s advocate in the operating room. As an interventional pain management doctor, she treats chronic pain through techniques that reduce pain levels, such as nerve blocks or injections. Interventional pain specialists provide pain relief to patients by blocking or interrupting the transmission of neurological pain signals in the brain. Dr. Spirtovic may perform such pain-relieving treatments as spinal cord and nerve stimulation, nerve or medial branch blocks, medication management, or the implantation of drug delivery systems.
A native of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Spirtovic completed her Medical Degree in 1987 at the University of Tuzla, Faculty of Medicine in Bosnia and Herzegovina. After immigrating to the United States, she did her anesthesiology residency in 1992 at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. She also completed a pain management fellowship at Loyola University, School of Medicine in Chicago.
Dr. Spirtovic is actively affiliated with the American Society of Anesthesiologists among her professional memberships and affiliations.
In her spare time, Dr. Spirtovic is involved in the arts. She is an artist and an avid art collector. She is also an active member and supporter of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Spirtovic dedicates this honor to her mentor, Stephanie Gregory, MD. She would also like to acknowledge her brother, Benjamin Spirtovic, who has demonstrated his caring support for her throughout the decades.
