Susan Hamilton Munson, BS, RCS, RVS, RDMS, has established a distinguished career in medical imaging and ultrasound education, earning recognition for her expertise in cardiac sonography, diagnostic imaging, and advancing point-of-care ultrasound education. Through clinical practice, teaching, and consulting, she continues to improve patient care while preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals.
As the founder of Hamilton Imagery and Consulting, Ms. Munson specializes in educating nurse practitioners and other healthcare providers in diagnostic sonography and point-of-care ultrasound. She also serves as a Clinical Educator and Cardiac Sonographer at HCA Tristar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, where she performs comprehensive echocardiographic examinations, including transthoracic echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiography, bubble studies, and Definity-enhanced imaging to support accurate cardiovascular diagnosis and treatment.
Ms. Munson earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management with a minor in Business from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, before completing her ultrasound training through the Ultrasound Diagnostic School. She has earned multiple professional credentials, including Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (Abdomen), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), and Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS), demonstrating advanced proficiency across multiple imaging specialties.
With more than 25 years of experience, Ms. Munson has built an accomplished career spanning direct patient care, clinical education, healthcare technology, and consulting. She previously served as an adjunct professor at the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, where she trained nurse practitioner students in point-of-care ultrasound techniques. Her experience also includes national clinical applications, information technology integration, and workflow optimization roles with Mindray North America, Fuji Medical Systems USA, and Terason Corporation, where she helped healthcare organizations implement advanced ultrasound technologies and improve clinical efficiency.
Throughout her career, Ms. Munson has remained committed to advancing the use of ultrasound as an essential diagnostic and clinical decision-making tool. Through Hamilton Imagery and Consulting, she works with emerging nurse practitioner programs to develop ultrasound education initiatives that strengthen clinical competency and improve patient outcomes. Hamilton Imagery & Consulting also provides Corporate training and workshops to improve ultrasound education and enhance salesmanship practices.
She maintains active professional affiliations with the American Society of Echocardiography, the Society of Vascular Ultrasound, and the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, reflecting her commitment to continuing education and professional excellence.
