Dr. Teri Oakes Dyess, FACP, FHM, a distinguished hospitalist and healthcare leader, has been appointed Chief Medical Officer, bringing her extensive expertise in internal medicine, hospice, and palliative care to the forefront of medical administration. With a proven track record of compassionate patient care and innovative program development, Dr. Dyess is committed to enhancing healthcare delivery and improving patient outcomes.
Dr. Dyess began her career in medicine after earning a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Mississippi and an MD from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. She completed her residency in primary care/internal medicine at Boston University/Carney Hospital and is board-certified in internal medicine. Her clinical focus includes internal medicine, hospice, and palliative care, providing comprehensive and compassionate care to patients at every stage of their health journey.
In her role as a hospitalist, Dr. Dyess is renowned for her patient-centered approach, ensuring that each individual receives attentive and personalized care. She has been instrumental in developing a groundbreaking program of continuing care, guiding patients seamlessly from the emergency room through to discharge, a model that has earned her respect among colleagues and patients alike.
Dr. Dyess holds the designation of Certified Physician Executive and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the Society of Hospital Medicine. She also serves as a board member of the Obesity Society of Mississippi and the Mississippi/Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. Her dedication to advancing women’s heart health has been recognized by the American Heart Association, where she has been named a Woman of Impact, a member of the Circle of Red, and Chair of the 2023 Heart Walk.
As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Dyess aims to further enhance patient care programs, develop innovative care delivery models, and mentor the next generation of healthcare leaders.
