East Rockaway, NY — Wayne Sebastiano, MD, FAAFP, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Distinguished Family Physician for his outstanding achievements in the Medical field and in acknowledgment of his private practice clinics and outstanding service as an emergency responder.
Board-certified in Family Medicine, Dr. Sebastiano is a highly trained primary care physician with nearly 40 years of dedicated service in his field. He entered private practice in 1989, opening his first clinic in Five Towns, NY. In 1993, the doctor acquired Glendale Family Medicine as his second practice and expanded the clinic in 2000. Six years ago, he purchased Firstcare Urgent & Primary Care in Baldwin, NY, serving as the Medical Director.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Sebastiano serves as a physician for the New York State Police, the New York City Fire Department, and the East Rockaway Volunteer Fire Department. He previously served as a crime scene investigator for the City of New York for ten years and was a physician with Air Ambulance Network. A certified Aviation Medical Examiner, he was a physician-on-scene at a jet crash in 1991, providing emergency care to over 40 passengers who all survived their injuries.
In pursuit of his medical career, Dr. Sebastiano obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Physics at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY. He studied at the University of Aquila College of Medicine and Surgery, near Rome, Italy, where he earned his Medical Degree with honors. After returning to the United States, Dr. Sebastiano completed an internship in general surgery at the Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens, followed by a three-year residency in Family Medicine at Downstate Health & Science Medical Center in Brooklyn. He served as an Assistant Clinical Instructor at the medical school.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Dr. Sebastiano is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Among his professional affiliations, he is a member of the American College of Physicians, the New York State Medical Society, and the Nassau County Medical Society.
Of particular interest, Dr. Sebastiano is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and has done voiceovers for television and film.
He and his wife are the parents of three daughters, including a set of twins. He would like to dedicate this honor to his father, Ray Sebastiano, and his eighth-grade teacher and inspiration, Mr. LaSalla.
