Mountain Brook, AL – Alan R.  Dimick, MD, FACS is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Lifetime Achiever in the field of Medicine and Education as a retired Surgeon at the University of Alabama School of Medicine, Department of Surgery.

Backed by thirty-six years of professional achievements, Dr. Dimick is more than adept at treating burn patients. He is renowned for his dedication to helping others and executing quality patient care.

An academic scholar, Dr. Dimick attended Birmingham Southern College for undergraduate studies, earning a Bachelor of Science in biology. He then transitioned to the University of Alabama School of Medicine. where he earned a Doctorate of Medicine and completed a general surgery residency. He is board certified in general surgery.

Dr. Dimick’s opinion is highly respected. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the past president of the American Burn Association. He is serving as program chairman at annual conferences for the Southern Burn Region. An active member of his community, he donates to and volunteers at BURNS, which is a burn support group.

On top of these accomplishments, the UAB Retirees Association honored Dr. Dimick in 2019, awarding a $5,000 gift to the Alan R. Dimick Burn Care Fund. He has shared his breadth of expertise in numerous publications, including “Conceptual and Methodologic Problems in the Evaluation of a New Burn Treatment Modality” and “Classifying patients with burns for hospital reimbursement: Diagnosis-related groups and modifications for severity”.

In his spare time, Dr. Dimick enjoys traveling and watching the University of Alabama play football. Dr. Dimick dedicates this esteemed recognition in loving memory of his first wife Eleanor and to his current wife of thirty-two years Mrs. Ida Martha Dimick, their three children, and two grandchildren.
