With an accomplished career spanning over 30 years in academic administration, Andrea Gonzalez Kirwin continues to make a transformative impact on education. Ms. Kirwin serves as the Chief Academic Officer and Superintendent of Schools at ASPIRA Inc. of Pennsylvania, overseeing daily operations across multiple schools while supporting ASPIRA’s mission to provide quality education to underserved communities. Additionally, she has shared her expertise as an adjunct professor at Temple University’s College of Education and Human Development since 2019, demonstrating her commitment to fostering the next generation of educational leaders.

In her current role at ASPIRA, Ms. Kirwin manages a diverse range of responsibilities that include overseeing four boards—three school boards and one for the nonprofit organization. She collaborates closely with her team to ensure operational excellence, guiding the opening and management of school buildings, ensuring adherence to state, city, and district compliance, and maintaining rigorous standards in budget management. Ms. Kirwin’s collaborative approach with ASPIRA’s Chief Executive Officer emphasizes alignment with the organization’s objectives, promoting educational access and equity across Philadelphia.

Ms. Kirwin’s expertise is backed by a strong academic foundation, holding a Bachelor of Science in Educational Psychology from Temple University, a Master of Education from Cheyney University, and administrative credentials from Arcadia University. Licensed as a school administrator in New Jersey, as well as a superintendent, principal, and early childhood/elementary teacher in Pennsylvania, she combines her qualifications with extensive experience in various educational roles. Prior to joining ASPIRA, she served as assistant superintendent in the Camden City School District, a turnaround specialist principal, and director of Bilingual/ESL Programs, among other positions dedicated to supporting bilingual education and equitable learning opportunities.

Ms. Kirwin is an active member of multiple professional organizations, including the Pennsylvania Association of Hispanic School Administrators, the Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents, the International Literacy Association, and the American Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development. Outside her professional roles, she volunteers with local charities, her church, and children’s programs, often supporting jiu-jitsu coaches working with special needs students. These community-focused activities reflect her commitment to inclusivity and educational empowerment.

Looking to the future, Ms. Kirwin is preparing a proposal for a dual-language and trade high school that would allow students to pursue either college or vocational training upon graduation. This visionary initiative aims to provide students with diverse pathways to success, equipping them with the skills needed for both higher education and the workforce. Her long-term goal includes expanding ASPIRA’s educational model to reach additional Latino communities, with a particular focus on Puerto Rico, where she hopes to broaden access to quality bilingual and culturally responsive education.
