Andrew A. R. Pastewski, MD — Distinguished Pulmonologist and Critical Care Specialist

Miami Beach, FL —  Andrew A. R. Pastewski, MD, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Distinguished Pulmonologist and Critical Care Specialist and in acknowledgment of his work at Jackson South Medical Center.

At Jackson South Medical Center, Dr. Pastewski treats patients for pulmonary disease medicine, critical care medicine, and internal medicine, with a special focus on sleep medicine. Throughout his 20 year long career, he has remained dedicated to giving his patients the best possible care. Dr. Pastewski is also affiliated with Baptist Hospital of Miami, Kendall Regional Medical Center, and Homestead Hospital.

Dr. Pastewski began his college education at Ithaca College, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. He then attended Ross University School of Medicine, where he earned his Medical degree in 2001. For further education, Dr. Pastewski then attended a residency and Fellowship at Maimonides Medical Center. He became board-certified in Florida in Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine, and Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a nonprofit led by physicians who want to achieve high standards for Internal Medicine healthcare.

As the head of the ICU at Jackson South Medical Center, Dr. Pastewski was interviewed about the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 by WLRN News. Dr. Pastewski reflected on his experiences with his team of 13 physicians and nurse practitioners as they worked on the front lines of the pandemic. Regarding his staff members, he says, “Every time anyone goes into a room to take care of a patient, they’re putting their lives at risk, and a simple thing like a mask would make that risk considerably less.”

He was featured in a video by the Miami Herald entitled “Inside the COVID Unit.” His experiences were further chronicled by Action News Now, who detailed how Dr. Pastewski caught COVID-19 along with his entire family. Demonstrating incredible dedication to his job, Dr. Pastewski continued to conduct telemedicine appointments with his patients, even while he was under COVID-19 quarantine.

To remain abreast of developments in his field, Dr. Pastewski is a member of the American Medical Association and the ASCM.

On a personal note, Dr. Pastewski enjoys spending time with his family, and supporting the St. Jude’s charity. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
