At the beginning of her academic career, she graduated from the School of Aerospace Medicine and became an Environmental Health Technician. Dr. Snell-Hargrove served in Desert Storm/Desert Shield for a short time and went on to complete her undergraduate studies at Prairie View A&M University. She was later accepted into the College of Osteopathic Medicine and earned her degree from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan in 1999. Soon thereafter, she completed both her internship and residency at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, Michigan. While there, she became the first African American to graduate from their Obstetrics and Gynecology program. Dr. Snell-Hargrove is currently board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
After 20 years of faithful service, Dr. Snell-Hargrove retired from the military as a Major receiving both the Air Force Commendation and Meritorious Service medals. During her service, she was a vital member of the executive management committee team and the medical evaluation board. Her certifications included Combat Medical Readiness, Combat Causality Care, Advanced Trauma Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
A front runner in her field, Dr. Snell-Hargrove remains up-to-date with the latest developments and innovations. She maintains active memberships with the relevant professional organizations including the American Osteopathic Association, Texas Osteopathic Association and the Texas Medical Association. As a testament to her success, Dr. Snell-Hargrove was named one of the Leading Physicians of the World by the International Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologist from 2013-2020.
