Michael J. Vitti, MD, — Trusted Vascular Surgeon

West Harrison, NY — Michael J. Vitti, MD, is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Trusted Vascular Surgeon for his outstanding work in the Medical field and in acknowledgment of his work for Columbia Eastern Vascular Associates.     

A board-certified Vascular Surgeon, he has over 25 years of experience in the Medical field. Dr. Vitti specializes in minimally invasive treatments of lower-extremity vein disease, from varicose veins to stasis ulcers. He is an accomplished researcher on the topics of lower extremity venous disease and atherosclerosis.

He has been serving as the Director of the Eastern Vascular Vein Center (Columbia Eastern Vascular Associates) since 2005. The center offers minimally-invasive laser treatments, relieving patients of the symptoms of painful varicose veins, severe venous stasis disorders, and ulcerations of the lower legs. An accomplished and well-respected Vascular Surgeon, Dr. Vitti has performed over 8,000 procedures with excellent clinical success. He is an expert in his field, with over two decades of experience performing lower extremity bypass procedures. He has salvaged limbs, performed carotid endarterectomy for stroke prevention, dialysis access procedures, and repaired aortic aneurysms.

Under Dr. Vitti’s leadership, Eastern Vascular Vein Center has achieved the high distinction of an Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). An IAC accreditation is awarded for dedication to high-quality clinical practices that pass a roster of rigorous standards.

To achieve his commendable career, Dr. Vitti began his undergraduate degree at Fordham University, graduating Summa Cum Laude and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Vitti then attended New York University Grossman School of medicine in 1986, earning his Medical degree. He then completed a residency in General Surgery at St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Hospital in 1992. Dr. Vitti wrote and published basic science research, regarding the immunologic characteristics of atherosclerosis. Next, he embarked upon a Fellowship in Vascular Surgery and specialized training in Vascular Ultrasound at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1994.

Dr. Vitti is board-certified in vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent non-profit that certifies surgeons who meet high standards for education, training, and knowledge of the field.

He has worked in multiple hospitals since 1997, including his capacity as a Staff Vascular Surgeon at New York Westchester Square Hospital and Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center. He served as a Vascular Attending at Montefiore Medical Center at Albert Einstein Hospital from 2003-2018. In this position, he also trained new surgical residents. Dr. Vitti joined Columbia Doctors in 2018, and currently practices at Lawrence Hospital. He also practices at other hospitals, including New York-Presbyterian, Columbia University Irving Medical Center, New York-Presbyterian Allen Hospital, and New York-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital.

Involved in important research projects, Dr. Vitti has recently researched the impact of endovenous procedures on lower extremity venous disease. He has authored textbook chapters and numerous peer-reviewed articles about Noninvasive Ultrasound Diagnosis of Arterial and Venous Disorders.

On a personal note, Dr. Vitti enjoys spending his spare time with his family, and coaching his son’s baseball team.
