With over 25 years of experience in primary care and healthcare leadership, Dr. Ted R. Vana, DO, MBA, is redefining patient-centered medicine as Medical Director at Guidewell. A board-certified family physician, Dr. Vana specializes in complex case evaluations, gathering holistic insights into his patients’ lives to achieve accurate diagnoses and improved clinical outcomes. His leadership emphasizes value-based care and team collaboration, fostering a culture of trust and high-quality service among healthcare professionals.
Dr. Vana’s educational journey includes a Bachelor of Science in pre-med biology, with a minor in biochemistry, from Elizabethtown College. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1994 and holds an MBA with a concentration in medical management from St. Joseph University. He completed his family medicine residency at the Medical Center of Beaver in Pittsburgh, further solidifying his foundation in patient care and medical leadership.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Vana has held key leadership roles, including Medical Director of Health Promotion at UPMC HealthPlan, Executive Medical Director at Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts, and Senior Regional Medical Director at Humana. His expertise extends to implementing health and wellness initiatives, developing Medicare Advantage programs, and managing pharmacy benefits, all while prioritizing value-based care to enhance patient outcomes.
Dr. Vana is an active member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Florida Medical Association.
